I know. 11 pm. knock on my door. Man has 3 foot dead snake and says he has been
bit. I look at snake and it is a copperhead, very poisonous. The bite was on
his hand and it has already started to swell. Hospital has no antivenom for copperhead.
Man will not go to hospital. Out comes the Echinacea. I give him a ounce of
tincture in 1/4 cup of water every 15 minutes. His hand continued to swell.
I have a thermometer in his mouth monitoring his temperature. Suddenly he lets
out a horrifying noise, throws his head back and sure enough his temperature spikes
to 105. I immediately had him moved to the bathtub (clothes and all) where I

is as fast as it went back down. He continued to take the Echinacea and rested
the next two days while we got the swelling back down. His hand was so swollen
you could not get a piece of paper between the fingers. Day 3 he was back at
