I would like to thank everyone who has written, e-mailed and phoned the Arkansas Attorney General on our behalf. This is a very serious situation folks as these guys are trying to destroy and close down Herbal Healer by forcing bankruptcy. They are saying that if we are found guilty they want a $10,000 fine per student. You can imagine the terrible stress this is causing us after all these years of hard work to find products and information to help you. The Arkansas Attorney General has basically admitted that there is NO civilian complaints behind this traitorous act against us. (see letter below) It is the medical doctors, the naturopathic physicians (who want to control it all) and the AMA.

The outcry has been tremendous and I think they are getting the message that trying to close us down is not a good idea. But we have to keep fighting for our rights to choose in the healthcare industry and break down the corrupt medical monopoly on our health choices. I hate to fight, but they have declared war... Let's win this one for America!

TWO LETTERS THAT WILL BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF!
I received the following letter from the Arkansas Health Freedom Coalition. This is a brand new grassroots organization that has just started because of this lawsuit! Dear Doctor McCain,
Thank you for putting a link to the Arkansas Health Freedom Coalition on the HHA web page. I am the Secretary Treasurer of AHFC. I don't know if you have made the link to who actually filed the complaint that brought about the lawsuit against you and the other Arkansas Naturopaths being sued. I have put two and two together and figured it out.

I wrote, rather than emailed AG Pryor. Elected Officers get so many thousands of e-mails, that, other than to scan what it is about and to see if it is pro or con, after the first few on a subject, they don't get read, but just an eyeball count is made of how many and then they hit delete. They do read and answer written, signed letters.

I received a two page form letter back from Pryor. The following is excerpted from the cover letter I e-mailed with the flyer for the November 3 AHFC meeting: In the two page form letter sent to me by Pryor in response to my letter asking him to drop this lawsuit, he states, "State law requires that only those licensed to do so may hold themselves out to the public as being certified to diagnose, treat, an/or prevent various human diseases. Thus if a legitimate, credentialed practitioner of alternative medicine wishes to practice within this State, he or she must do so within these confines."

What he is saying is that he interprets the intent of the Arkansas codes to be that only Arkansas State licensed physicians, and possibly chiropractors, may practice alternative health care in Arkansas. Period!

His letter also states, "As the attachments to the complaint reveal, legitimate practitioners of alternative medicine fully support this action."

In other words, it was not harmed or dissatisfied clients, but physicians licensed by the Arkansas State Medical Board who filed the complaint that led to the lawsuit. Pryor received $15,000 in 2002 PAC donations from the American Medical Association for his campaign fund. Hutchinson received $2,000. Is it not amazing that Pryor would have us believe there is no connection between the donation and the contribution? Is it not amazing when the people of Arkansas, other than physicians, did not make the complaint that he states, "the lawsuit was filed to abate the public nuisance that has been created as a result of the defendants, acts, which are detrimental to the health, safety, security, and welfare of the people of Arkansas?" They actually are behaving as if the people of Arkansas are chattels of the State without the capability to think and decide for themselves what is best for themselves!

And so, Marijah, the attack has begun, and you can bet it will not be just in Arkansas, but nationwide. There is so much more money being spent on health care provided by alternative practitioners than on allopathic medicine, that they will do every thing in their power to stomp the alternative practitioner out.

I have heard, but have not been able to confirm, that a bill, drafted by physicians and chiropractors, will be introduced this upcoming General Assembly that will make it illegal for anyone but themselves to practice acupuncture. Acupuncturists are licensed in the state of Arkansas, so if the physicians and chiropractors have their way, that board will have to be closed. That gets awfully close to other alternative health care practitioners who are licensed by the State, including me, as I am a massage therapist.

If we allow this to pass without approaching the legislature for protection, it is just a matter of time until all unlicensed, as well as licensed, complementary and alternative health care practitioners are sued and all brought under the jurisdiction of the Arkansas Medical Board.

The traditional medical powers that be are not happy with the huge percentage of money spent on health care that is going into the hands of CAM practitioners rather than theirs. To protect our freedom to choose the modality of healthcare that suits each individual, and the practitioner of that modality, we must address the Arkansas Legislature concerning this issue.

I do hope the people who use alternative practitioners in Arkansas, (and nationwide!) and the practitioners themselves, lend themselves with full and active support to the effort that the Arkansas Health Freedom Coalition is extending. I have been politically active in Arkansas in the past and found the people apathetic and not interested in working to keep their necks from under the yoke. I hope this issue stimulates them to the few months effort it will take to get a health freedom bill passed after the first of the year. NOW FOR THE REAL OBNOXIOUS LETTER
Now this is a e-mail I received from a person who was trying to get this Naturopathic Physician, a graduate of a United States Four Year College that trains naturopathic physicians, to support this case and help with the Arkansas Health Freedom Coalition. I hope you are sitting down! My lawyer has advised me to delete this doctor's name (which I have) but as you will see these guys are anything but healers and helpers of the people.

I am e-mailing you with some information on a man I think you should be aware of. He is one of those Naturopathic Physicians who graduated from one of the 4 year colleges. (Understand that these naturopathic physicians, as they call themselves, are licensed to deal pharmaceutical drugs and are not true naturopaths). It looks as though he has put his business on hold to become a legislative litigator. He is in Missouri now and will be coming to Arkansas next. You might have your attorneys try to find info on him. He is absolutely vehement about what we are doing here.

A friend of mine is a good friend of his. He contacted him to feel him out and find out which side he's on. I could have told him that. Had no idea he was going to contact him. This guy is pretty arrogant and nasty. I don't think you are gonna be able to garner much support from him concerning the AG's attack on McCain. Here is what he wrote:

"....let me fill you in on "the attack" on the fake at the herbal healing academy. She has been calling herself a naturopath for years and selling product and programs for many years. She has no training and no right to call herself a naturopath. There is no such thing as a "traditional naturopath". I don't care that she sells low quality herbs or rips people off in her herbal academy. But I do care that moneys from her business go to work against legitimate licensing efforts. I applaud the AG for taking a stand for what is right. Don't get me wrong, anyone has a right to do whatever. But people who are practicing medicine without a license AND training ought to be held accountable if something goes wrong. The things that McCain and her people are taking about are not outside the realm of allopathic medicine. It's come down to definitions. If I say, "You are constipated, drink water and eat fiber", technically this is practicing medicine, because I am making a diagnosis and offering treatment for it. The clincher is the taking of money for this. McCain has been ripping people off for years with over priced low quality products. I sent Brain Brookes, Mark Pryors assistant information about the historical basis of Naturopathy to help him stamp these fakes out. Let me repeat, I wouldn't care if they call themselves herbalists, healers, natural whatever, but the title Naturopath has a historical anchor in the practice of natural medicine with a defined scope of practice, educational requirements, and title protection. The AG took over three years to investigate McCain, and she's been making money all the while. Then for her to hide behind this Christian crap is just too much. If you're going to play with the big boys, be prepared to get some rug burns. They already passed a bill saying that you can't call yourself a 'doctor' without being an MD or DO (maybe DC)."

Marijah McCain writes: Now folks, this is mind boggling coming from another so called Naturopathic Physician that is suppose to be a healer and a professional caregiver and instead, how is he using his talents? "No such thing as a traditional naturopath"? Excuse us! There are hundreds of us out here! This guy does not even know me, and I doubt that the AG has been investigating us for 3 years, since they had no idea of what was even on our website in some cases. This clearly shows the problems that this country is up against with these so called Naturopathic Physicians and MD's (licensed to deal drugs) and how they are trying to stop everyone else, so they can completely control the markets with high priced supplements. If you read between the lines here, you will notice that this person is mad because of inexpensive products. Well I have spent a great deal of time researching quality products and having them private labeled, so that you can afford to buy them. Left to these guys you were paying $60.00 a bottle for Beta Glucans! Also, HHA herbal products are some of the best in the world.

Also, what does he mean, "hiding behind this Christian crap"? Are these people anti-Bible? Don't they find God necessary in their healing work? I surely do! I will tell you right now, it is the Power of the Almighty God and the Power of His Word that has kept us going and inspired this business, and I am not ashamed of that! I pray for my customers and patients and I am not ashamed of that either!

Now as far as the bill passed in the State of Arkansas outlawing the use of the title doctor, we will fight that on my constitutional rights! I hope you can see what is happening here folks and how important it is that you send letters and tell these people you will not stand for this. Please continue to write the Arkansas Attorney General office and let us know what they say. We do need someone to find out what Attorney General Pryors stand is on Alternative Health Care and we need this in writing. Contact information for the AR. HOW IS HHA DOING OTHERWISE?
We are doing very well. Business has been very good for us and the support of new members is incredible. I have been on 4 radio shows this month and am now working on the snail-mail newsletter. I am working on Private labeling Coral Calcium, but the raw materials supplier did not have a test that showed that this product was radiation free. Since it comes from Okinawa Japan, residual radiation in the product is a large concern of mine. No one could prove to me that it was radiation safe, so we are now awaiting the official laboratory testing on it. As many of our old members know, I am very careful about the products I sell, and there is not one product in my catalog that I would not take or use.
